LICENSE RECONCILIATION SERVICE
To ensure software compliance, it is imperative for organisations to understand what software is deployed and equally important to understand exactly what software is actually used before making any investment or changes. Insight’s License Reconciliation Service (LRS) can deliver this visibility. The LRS process involves comparing the installed and used software products withexisting software license entitlement documentation, providing comprehensive reports and recommended actions to ensure full compliancy.
Elements of LRS:
Stage 1: Inventory - A high quality technical inventory is initially carried out to identify installed and available products through utilising tools available in-house. Insight helps clients collate all the license information within the company, usually starting with the purchase history data.
Stage 2: Reconciliation - This stage is carried out in two steps:(i) Consolidating all the license information to the usable licenses(ii) Reconciling these usable licenses with the installed software products. This reconciliation is done automatically to assure reproducible and reliable results, taking into consideration all of the licensing intricacies which can exist (for example Up-/Downgrade and Technology guarantee).
Stage 3: Preliminary Report - The results of the reconciliation stage are collated into a report and Insight will provide advice on how best to address any visible gaps in software compliance.
Stage 4: Consolidation - The consolidation phase involves the client implementing the agreed actions in-house. This will vary on a case-by-case basis and may involve de-installations and searching for more licenses.
Stage 5: Second Reconciliation - Final Report - After updating the data Insight will perform a second reconciliation and produce a final report. This report accurately documents the licensing compliancy status of the organisation and provides the basis to procure any additional licenses if required.
